Buying weed in the metaverse

The Higher Life CBD Dispensary in the metaverse

Does anyone actually fully understand what the metaverse is? If you do, definitely let us know because we’re still trying to figure it out.

One thing we do know is that you can apparently buy weed in the metaverse. To wrap our minds around this, we spent some time exploring The Higher Life CBD Dispensary on 3 Dendrite Street in the metaverse. Yes, this is an actual street in the virtual world.

Moving around in the metaverse isn’t very easy on a computer but we figured it out eventually. After roaming around the store for a little bit, we got to a section that had cannabis products from Saucey Farms & Extracts and Higher Life CBD Dispensary. Each product had a link you can click on, taking you to a page where you can purchase a real physical version of the product. Sorry, don’t think they have figured out a virtual way to consume cannabis yet. But we'll definitely let you know if that ever becomes a thing.

Although it’s obvious we're still in the early stages of this shift to virtual reality, we can understand how this can catch on in the future and all the new business opportunities that can come with it. Imagine a virtual cannabis shop where you can explore products that can be shipped to your house and where you can also buy some metaverse merch in the form of a NFT. Best of both worlds.

We definitely live during some interesting times. Look forward to smoking a virtual joint with everyone at some point in the future.

Texas showdown: Weed vs Joe Biden and Others

Source: ACLU Texas

Source: ACLU Texas

If you had to guess, which of the options below is most popular with the people of Texas?

  • President Joe Biden

  • Vice President Kamala Harris

  • Texas Governor Greg Abbott

  • Weed

  • California Pizza Kitchen

Hint: it's none of the politicians

If you guessed Joe Biden or California Pizza Kitchen, you definitely don’t know the people of Texas very well. According to a recent survey from the University of Texas at Tyler, over 80% of respondents supported medicinal legalization and over 70% supported recreational legalization. Those numbers are pretty high (pun intended) compared to what respondents thought about President Joe Biden, whose approval rating was 37%. California Pizza Kitchen wasn’t actually included in the survey but we doubt Texans would like that more than weed.

Why is this important?

Texas has traditionally been a conservative state with very strict cannabis laws. So strict that this guy had to face the possibility of life in prison for making weed brownies. Crazy, right? But with more and more Texans warming up to weed, this will likely force politicians to reevaluate their stance if they want to be competitive in future elections.

Further implications

Going beyond Texas, this trend also has the potential to influence other conservative states as the legalization debate carries on at the federal level. Although many Texans are upset about all the Californians moving to their state, at least they are bringing some good weed vibes with them.

Pot politics

  • Rhode Island legalizes weed for adults

  • California has collected nearly $4 billion from marijuana tax since 2018

  • The federal government is being sued by a team of cannabis companies

  • Before you travel, use this as your guide to cannabis legalization in each state

  • Cannabis is at the center of the race for Governor in Pennsylvania
